Whenever anything is done to the ear, be it using cotton buds, ear syringing, cleaning with a probe and headlight or Ear Microsuction there are always risks. Those risks include hearing loss, tinnitus, trauma to the ear canal or eardrum, perforation of the eardrum and infection. Watch our video to find out more:
The risks are all very uncommon and we feel that, of all the techniques available, Ear Microsuction is the safest and most effective way to clean wax from the ear canal.
Our clinics are led by our highly trained and experienced Nurse Practitioners but you may have a particular clinician you would like to see. When booking online, the clinicians name will be next to the available appointment location, date and time, so you can see who you are booking in with. If you have any other queries, you can always call our office team on 03455 27 27 27.
Yes of course. We are more than happy for someone to attend the appointment with you.
Yes please, if you are able to use some Olive Oil drops in your ears for at maximum of 3 days prior to your appointment it will help to soften the wax. This makes it easier for us to remove it all and makes the treatment more comfortable for you. If you need to see us urgently or there is a reason you are unable to use ear drops in your ears, please contact us for further advice.
Yes, we do. Please contact our team on 03455 27 27 27 and we will send one to you or to a different address if you wish.

Sometimes if the wax is mainly in the outer part of the ear canal we can remove it with small scoops, a fine probe or pick it out with tiny forceps. If you would rather we tried this before the suction machine please ask.
Not usually, however, it can be noisy and your ear canal skin is sensitive so we do everything we can to avoid touching it with the suction end.
If you have had a lot of wax removed, it can sometimes leave the ear sensitive to cold weather and winds, so is advisable to keep the ear protected.
Wax often re-accumulates and many people like to have their ears cleaned on a regular basis. Typical time intervals are every 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Of course, any time interval that suits you can be arranged.
We at Just Ears Clinic try to provide the best possible care and experience for patients who use our service.
If for any reason you are unhappy about the care you have received or would like to bring to our attention any aspect of our service that can be improved we would like to hear from you. Please email our Practice Manager at alex.elliott@justears.co.uk or call us on 03455 27 27 27.

We are very sorry to hear that. Please call the office team on 03455 27 27 27 to discuss any concerns you have and we can look at how we can help you. We will always offer your first follow up for free when booked within 2 weeks of your appointment. If there is any discomfort, issues hearing or still feeling blocked, this is usually noticed within the first 2 weeks after microsuction.
We will be delighted to answer any questions. Please use the contact form.
Definitely, microsuction is the safest way to clean your ear because it is performed under direct vision through the microscope, which gives us a magnified view of what is going on. Ear syringing should be avoided if you have had previous surgery on your ears.
If you are running late for your appointment, please call us on 03455 27 27 27 as soon as you can as we may still be able to see you. Depending on how late you are or if you miss your time, it may not be possible to see you and a new chargeable appointment would need to be made.
Please call 03455 27 27 27 to cancel your appointment.
If 48 hours’ notice is provided, we are happy to refund full clinic fee or reschedule your appointment free of charge.
If 24 hours’ notice is given, we will refund half the prices of the treatment. Unfortunately, if less than 24 hours’ notice we will be unable to issue a refund due to the difficulty in filling clinic slots at short notice.
If our examination determines that you do not require treatment (no wax is found) we will be able to give you advice, and refer you to the necessary ENT provider or back to your GP. Unfortunately no refund will be issued.
If you are not sure if you have wax, we would recommend booking our £35 wax check.
