Our Microsuction service for young people sees children from the age of 12 and upwards, ensuring their ears are ready for the holidays. Our clinicians undergo specialised training in ear wax removal for children, prioritising their safety and comfort.
We have put together below some useful information for parents on common ear problems in this age group and when to seek help.
Understanding common ear problems and management can help parents identify when to seek assistance.

Ear Infections: Often caused by bacteria or viruses, ear infections can be common in children. Symptoms include pain, irritability, and sometimes fever. If you are concerned that your child may have an ear infection, please contact your GP as they may require treatment.
Excessive Ear Wax: Some children may produce more earwax than others. If you notice symptoms such as discomfort or hearing difficulties, it may be time for you to contact us at Just Ears, especially before they return to school.
Swimmer’s Ear: This is an infection of the ear canal resulting from water exposure. Symptoms may include itching, redness, and pain in the outer ear. It is important to keep young ears dry to prevent this. Please follow the link to the Just Ears online store where you can buy our recommended ear plugs or holiday kits. Alternatively, you can purchase this on your visit to Just Ears.
DO NOT USE COTTON BUDS: These can cause trauma to the ear canal and, more importantly, the ear drum. They can also cause ear wax to become compacted in the ear canal by pushing the wax back into the ear canal, which can lead to further problems.
